As long as the station wagon (and the minivan, and the SUV, and whatever people mover comes along next) never dies, there will always be kids raised in the back of them who grow up to become gearheads and to long for cars like this largely original, well-preserved and road trip-ready 5.0L-powered 1986 Ford Crown Victoria station wagon for sale on Hemmings.com. From the seller’s description:

Unbelievable condition, nice paint and perfect interior! I purchased this car from the original owner, an 86 year old lady from New York. She didn’t drive in the winter so the car was stored at the dealership every winter since new! The body is 100 percent rust free, the paint is 95 percent original, the exception being the right rear quarter that has been touched up below the factory painted pinstripe.

Interior is absolutely stunning it’s pristine original condition with perfect seats, carpet , door panels , visors, etc. The Dash has a split in the center but it is not visible with the exact match dash mat installed. Included as well are the original 1986 FOMOCO accessory floor mats that I got with the car that were never installed! Still in the original packaging!

The original fuel injected 5.0 (302) engine starts and runs perfectly, the AOD transmission shifts smoothly. Factory AC blows ice cold – maybe colder than that – with a new compressor and receiver drier just installed. Included is the factory original push button AM/FM radio and installed in the car is a new Kenwood audio system with bluetooth capability and Ipod ready for long road trips.

I service and replaced the following items:

* A/C compressor and drier , shocks, front brakes, belts, hoses – including by pass and heater hoses, transmission fluid and filter, fuel filter, 15w40 rotella and Motorcraft oil and air filters and alignment. Steel wheels were replaced with factory ford turbine alloys and new Cooper Cobra 235/70/15 tires. The factory hubcaps are included as well.

This is a really nice car that turns heads on the street and gets thumbs up all around. Kids and old ladies alike think it’s cool, I’m sure because you don’t see these anymore. I have driven it almost daily for the last three months because it is so easy and comfortable to drive. The AC is amazing and blows colder than my 2014 Silverado, even at 110F here in the desert.
