Truth in 24 Blu-ray Collector's Edition Review

The Truth in 24 film series has been a highlight for Audi fans in recent years. Two of these films have been produced featuring two of the closest contested Le Mans 24 Hour races in recent times. 

Truth in 24 I was released in 2009 and covered the 2008 Le Mans 24 Hours, a titanic battle between Audi and Peugeot which was ultimately decided by the weather. The first film was an instant hit followed by the second film being released in 2012. Truth in 24 II featured the 2011 Le Mans which was another close battle with Peugeot and a gap at the finish of under 14 seconds after 24 Hours.

Both films were released as free internet downloads via I-Tunes. Truth in 24 II also had a number of other viewing option as well, you can see our Truth in 24 II Viewing Guide HERE. 

Along with the opportunity to download the film for free, fans were also able to purchase both films on DVD. Up until now these films were only available as DVD products in hard copy form, however Audi as recently released a High Definition Truth in 24 Blu-ray Collector's Edition. For the first time fans will be able to own this cult classic set of motorsport films in Blu-ray format.

Truth in 24 Blu-ray Collector's Edition Review

The Blu-ray edition arrives in a very good looking hard-cover case. It looks very special and it is a nice touch that the product is not one of the industry-standard blue Blu-ray cases. The case also has a very good hefty feeling, adding to its high quality first impression.

Inside the case you will find both disks, one each for the two films. In the centre of the case an eleven page booklet is included, which features a brief look at Audi’s Le Mans history and the individual films.

The films themselves are beautifully pictured in High Definition, and allows another, more enhanced, chance to relive these two legendary Le Mans races.

A number of options are available to the viewer. Language and subtitle choices includes four languages, each with its own commentary/audio set on the disks. Bonus viewing material has also been included.

Truth in 24 on Blu-ray!

For Audi fans the pair of Truth in 24 films are cult classics. Audi surprised us all with the first edition, Truth in 24 I, after the exciting 2008 Le Mans 24 Hours. At the time it was very positively received by everyone. Following the 2011 Le Mans 24 Hours, which was a nail biting action packed race, Audi announced a highly anticipated sequel title, Truth in 24 II, which covered the 2011 event.

These two films were brilliant and featured two of the hardest, and certainly the closest fought, Audi Le Mans victories. Both films have been available for free download in standard and high definition video, along with DVD versions for sale.

Today Audi Sport has announced a Collector's Edition which includes both films on a high definition Blu-ray disk. Fans can now enjoy a 170 minutes worth of video on the disk, including both films and extra content in beautiful high definition video.

The big hit of 2012 so far for Audi sports car fans has been the release of Truth in 24 II. The film is the sequel to the highly acclaimed Truth in 24 which featured the dramatic 2008 Le Mans 24 Hours. The new film features the even more dramatic and exciting 2011 Le Mans 24 Hours.

The film was first shown on the American SPEED channel followed by iTunes and Youtube releases. The fans have been treated to a great film and have eagerly been awaiting the DVD release. The DVD release finally arrived on Thursday 7 June which allowed fans to order and own a copy of this genuine piece of Audi history.

We can tell you that the DVD is a wonderful piece of work and well worth the order. Bellow we list all the DVD features, so that you know exactly what it holds in store and more importantly why you should order this for your collection.

Truth in 24 II DVD

The original Truth in 24 DVD did not have a menu or any special features. It only contained the film which immediately started playing when the disk was inserted. Fans will be happy to learn that the new Truth in 24 II film has been treated to a lot of attention to detail for the enjoyment of the viewer.

The DVD comes in a very nicely made case. It is a very nice cardboard box which is tastefully decorated with Truth in 24 imagery.

The DVD has a simple but very effective menu which has beautiful red Truth in 24 images. The menu also offers a wide range of languages for the viewer. The DVD includes all four language versions of the film: English, German, Spanish and French.

Truth in 24 II has been available on the World Wide Web for just over a week. Many thousands of fans have already sampled the sequel to the highly acclaimed Truth in 24. The sequel was subject to a lot of hype and a delayed release date but it is with us now and there are a few different ways to watch this great new film. This article is aimed at being a complete guide to Truth in 24 II and covers all the legal ways of seeing the film.

DVD

The Truth in 24 II DVD is finally online. Available for purchase from Audi's Adrenalin website for 12.90 Euros.

The Audi of America website has a Truth in 24 II page which has various links and information. The website also contains good news with a DVD image and the words "available soon." The first Truth in 24 DVD is still available for purchase on the website (link to the right) and hopefully Truth in 24 II will be released on DVD soon.

SPEED 

The first time the public was able to see the film was with the SPEED television broadcasts of the film. However the version that was aired had to be shortened substantially to fit into the one hour time slot. The shortened version was a total of 45 minutes versus the 82 minutes of the full length film.

The expected iTunes release was the first time people outside of America would be able to watch the film. However the film was only released on a few iTunes stores namely: America, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and England. Only the English version of the film has been released onto iTunes.

A few days after the iTunes release Audi TV released a streaming version of both the English and German versions of the film.

The iTunes release received much criticism from internet and popular forum websites regarding the limited distribution. Many suggested a YouTube release would be a great idea and would also increase the audience tenfold. By the end of the week Audi of America uploaded the full version of the English, German, French and Spanish versions onto Youtube in HD (720p) format.

The English version had received over 15000 views during its first weekend online, clearly it was a good move to upload the films.

Truth in 24 II officially on YouTube in HD!

Almost a week after the release of Truth in 24 II on iTunes the film has officially gone live on Youtube. Audi America has uploaded the film onto its Youtube channel to much positive response from everyone. There had been some criticism of the iTunes release method and many had suggested on various internet forums that a Youtube release would be a brilliant idea and would widen the film's audience ten fold. Their wishes have been granted by Audi officially today.

The brilliant and much awaited Truth in 24 II has arrived. The movie is about the epic Audi victory at the 2011 Le Mans 24 Hours. A single surviving R18 TDI was against a whole squad of Peugeot 908 race cars. The victory was so emotional that Audi decided to release a sequel to their excellent Truth in 24 film of 2008. The same studio of Intersport NFL Films has produced the new film for Audi and Le Mans lovers.

Available to download since yesterday at www.truth-in-24.com . Now Audi has made it even greater as the movie is online at Audi TV for streaming. A great movie to watch for all motorsport enthusiasts. Enough words and enjoy:

Truth in 24 II download countdown timer reset to 22 May 2012

The big news of the day was suppose to be the release of Truth in 24 II, which according to the countdown timer at the website was scheduled for 09:00 CET today, 14 May 2012.

The countdown timer reached zero today but without the release of the film, instead the counter has been reset and is now counting down to 22 May at 09:00 CET.

It is rather disappointing for the fans who have been eagerly awaiting the release of the film’s download. This is however not the first time the counter has been reset, two weeks ago the counter changed from 14 May to 22 May but switched back to 14 May again since then until today. Why this happened is unknown, but it looks like it was meant to be 22 May all along and the countdown timer may have been incorrect. However this does not change the facts, sadly the film will not be released today, but in less than 8 days time we, the fans will finally have access to the film. 

Truth in 24 II download is LIVE

It is finally 22 May 2012 and the download of the Truth in 24 II film has just gone LIVE. 

Many American viewers have been lucky enough to see the film’s shortened version on SPEED along with a lucky few around the world who have already received the film on DVD. For the rest of us we had to agonisingly wait for the countdown timer to tick down to zero for a second time, but that moment has finally arrived.

The movie has been released on iTunes but is only available in a few country's stores so far. It seems that the film is in the process of going live on iTunes.

The film is available on various iTunes stores but the timer on the website as again been reset. A further 16 hours has been added to the clock. What these 16 hours will bring we will have to wait and see but at this stage the film is only available to some iTunes countries. It was announced that the film would be available in different languages so this still lets us beleive and hope for an international iTunes release...

Note however that the film will be in an hour time slot and it will be a shortened version. For the full length version we will have to wait until the download and DVD release. The first trailer of the new Truth in 24 II film is online at the Audi USA website. It seems that they are busy setting up the Truth in 24 II section on their website. The various links relating to the film are in place, including a link to download the film from iTunes. Don’t get too excited yet, the links are dead links at the moment, giving 404 cannot find errors. However the fact that the website is being prepared is good news, it means the launch of the film cannot be too far away.

Technicalities aside, we do have a trailer to watch and it gives us enough of a taste to just be even more excited and anticipate the launch of the film much more.

Review of Truth in 24 “1”

With the recent announcement of the new sequel Truth in 24 II many Audi fans are very excited about the release of the new film. It seems a good time to have a look back at the original film, a film that delighted not just Audi fans, but sports car and motorsport fans in general. The film focused on the herculean 2008 Le Mans race which featured the new Peugeot 908 versus the aging Audi R10 TDI. The film was a spectacular piece of work and would easily bring tears to any Audi motorsport fan and anyone else who has a passion for the legendary Le Mans race.

Bellow are youtube links to various videos relating to Truth in 24, including two full versions of the film. Now why would we include two full version links? It is a very little known fact that there are actually two versions of the Truth in 24 “1” film, an American version and an European version. The film was originally narrated by movie star Jason Statham, this was to become the American version. The American version was intended for the American film festivals, television broadcasts and the DVD release. The releases of the DVD in Europe came much later than the release in America. The Statham version was only licensed for distribution in America. The documentary was re-narrated for the European version of the DVD by none other than renowned motorsport commentator, Toby Moody. The script was the same for both versions but the voice in each is very different. Many prefer the original narrated by Statham but it is a interesting fact that there were two versions, a fact that very few people actually know about.
