By Johan Laubscher

News broke on Wednesday that Mattias Ekström's new World Rallycross team will be fielding two Audi S1 Supercar class rallycross cars this year.

The EKSRX team will be taking part in selected rounds of the new FIA World Rallycross Championship (World RX) this year with the goal of developing their new Audi S1 cars.

The first glimpse of the car is a white Audi S1 called the "Audi S1 EKS RX Concept".

This confirms the second Audi team entering the 2014 World RX, as Münnich Motorpsort will be entering their Audi S3 rallycross car in the Supercar class as well.

The 2014 World RX season gets underway in Portugal, 3-4 May, however neither of the two Audi teams are currently listed on the entry list for the first round.

FIA Rallycross: More details emerge about the Münnich Motorsport Audi program

By Johan Laubscher

Last week it was announced that Münnich Motorsport are going to be focussing on their new Audi A3/S3 Supercar for the new 2014 FIA World Rallycross Championship. More details regarding the project have emerged this week.

RallyCrossWorld.com has published a new article on their website that reveals more details regarding the new Audi Rallycross project from Münnich Motorsport. That article, which includes quotes from Rene Münnich, new photos of the car, drivetrain and engine details, a brief look at Audi’s history in the sport and more details of Münnich Motorsport’s 2014 campaign, can be seen via this link HERE.

Münnich Motorsport will be competing in the new FIA World Rallycross Championship during 2014 and they will be fielding one Audi A3/S3 during their development year. The Audi Supercar will be driven by Rene Münnich. Some of the new information about the project includes:

The car has been built and prepared completely in-house by Münnich Motorsport and it will be fielded in the Supercar category of the 2014 FIA World Rallycross Championship. The team will be fielding one of the new Audi vehicles during the first season in order to focus on the car’s development, but the possibility exists for more cars in the future.

The car pictured, and which has been seen in testing, is the team's first design prototype, which they will be using for initial testing and development. They are currently busy building a second Audi rallycross car and this is the vehicle that will be used in the championship during 2014. It is said that this new vehicle will differ visually from the current test car, as the current car’s striking bodywork is not completely suited for rallycross competition.

For more information about the project please see the RallyCrossWorld.com article HERE.

This project from Münnich Motorsport is certainly very exciting and it will be great to see an Audi rallycross vehicle entered in the new 2014 FIA World Rallycross Championship.

Rallycross: First rollout for Münnich Motorsport and their new Audi rallycross racer

By Johan Laubscher

Exciting news came from all-inkl.com münnich motorsport today. The team has completed the first rollout of their new Audi rallycross race car.

During 2012 Münnich Motorsport had announced their intentions to build an Audi A3/S3 rallycross vehicle for the German/European Rallycross Championship, where the team has been fielding Skodas for a number of seasons. The original announcement included an Audi S3 render/design from
berzerkdesign.de.

The team uploaded various build photos onto their Facebook page during January 2013, which depicted the development of the car known as their “S3 SuperCar”.

Nine months later and Münnich Motorsport has released the first photo of the car, following their rollout today. The car looks fantastic with a menacing and aggressive appearance. Visually the bodywork is similar to that of the Audi RS 3.

More information and photos of the car is expected to be seen in the weeks to come.

Gallery: New Audi A1 Rallycross from Team Jagu in France

By Johan Laubscher

Racing Team Jagu is a French rallycross team who have been competing with Audis for many years. The team became famous for running their blue Audi A3 rallycross racer. For the 2012 season they embarked on a new challenge, that of building a new Audi A1 rallycross car. They sold their Audi A3 at the end of 2011 to Jimmy Terpereau, who now competes with the car. The old A3 is still very competitive as it took victory at the most recent French Rallycross round at Lohéac. Along with their old car taking victory at the event the Team Jagu crew were also at Lohéac. Racing Team Jagu presented their not yet complete Audi A1 car at the event. The team have been working very hard on the car. They have successfully changed the small A1 into a much more aggressive looking machine. The wide body kit they developed looks stunning on the car. Below are some photos of the car at the event followed by build photos. We look forward to seeing this car compete, it will look great on course. Thanks to Racing Team Jagu for the photos.
