After the numerous sightings of a black Mercedes-Benz G-Class 4×4 Squared on the road in the past few months, a white variant of the prototype was spied cruising on the Nurburgring circuit.
The white prototype on the spy shots of Carbuzz appeared fitted with some additional accessories compared to its black version. Aside from the exterior paint job, among the noticeable changes include the new roof rack complete with a ladder on the rear part of the SUV, and the red brake calipers.
Like the earlier prototype, the front grille logo, wheel arches, spare wheel cap on the rear, and the bar on the roof remained hidden. Of course, the front logo and spare wheel cap were merely hiding the obvious three-pointed star badge. Then the hidden wheel arches were clearly extended while the roof rack camouflage was likely covering some LED light bars.
Again, the white prototype had its portal axles exposed hinting that it is a successor of the G-Class 4×42 SUV. The setup provides it more ground clearance, which is especially useful during off-road driving. The other noteworthy accessories of the SUV are its sporty three-louver grille, and extended side steps for easier access inside. Twin exhaust pipes on each side are barely visible too.
The upcoming G-Class 4×4 Squared will probably carry a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 similar to its G550 predecessor. The power unit produces up to 416 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. Although there are no details about the pricing of the upcoming SUV yet, we expect it to cost somewhere near the $227,000 range like the 2018 Mercedes-Benz G550 4×42.
