Q&A with three-time NSX owner Marty Quon
This past summer we met up with Acura/Honda super fan Marty Quon from Edmonton, Canada, to check out his new ride – a rare 2003 Long Beach Blue Pearl Acura NSX with blue interior.
So this is your third NSX, tell us about your previous NSXs and what made you want to sell it.
My first one was a 1997 NSX. My second being a 2004 NSX.
In 2018, we just had our second child and we were looking to buy a new house for our family’s needs. I found this incredible lot that I wanted and my wife told me to sell my NSX if I wanted this lot. I sold it right before NSXs started to go up in value. I regretted it every day and told myself I would look for another one. So I did.
How did you find your current NSX and what made you decide that it was the one?
A couple years back, someone reached out to me to purchase either my 2008 GPW S2000 or my 2008 CR GPW S2000. We started talking and he told me he had quite the collection – ITR, S2k and a blue NSX. He lived in Vancouver and I knew a colleague who worked for Acura Canada that had a blue one. Turns out he sold it to him. I already knew a lot about this car as my colleague had told me all about it when he was buying it back in 2016… being the only NSX built in 2003 and the only Long Beach Blue Pearl NSX ever made for the Canadian market. I told him to keep me in the loop if he ever considered to sell and this summer he reached out and I bought it.
How did you get introduced to the Acura brand initially?
In high school I always dreamt of owning an Acura Integra type r. After I graduated I was looking for a summer job to wash cars. I got hired on the spot at West Side Acura and I have been here ever since. Next summer will be my 18th year working at West Side Acura. I started off washing cars, then I dropped out of university to work on cars and went to automotive school… my parents didn’t really liked that and eventually convinced me to go back to university. While I was in university I started selling cars part time and when I graduated I got offered a full time position. It’s my dream job. My passion for Honda/Acura is what keeps me going.

And of course my 2003 Long Beach Blue Pearl NSX!
What other cars do you currently own and which is your daily driver?
I had a fire sale in order to get back into the NSX.
I currently only have 2003 NSX, 2008 CR S2000, 1992 EG k20, 2020 Acura RDX A-Spec, 2003 Honda odyssey ( daily)
What are your plans for your current NSX?
Just clean suspension/wheel mods and keeping it stock and pretty for the rest of my life! Not for sale!
Finally, what are your thoughts on the second-generation NSX?
I love the second-generation NSX NC1. Great technology, looks stunning and cannot compare the power to the NA2. If only it had a manual transmission.
I had someone offer me to trade straight across but I declined. It will take at least 15-20 years for the NC1 to start appreciating like my current NSX!
