New Testing Video of the Mercedes-AMG Project One Released

After several delays and drawbacks, the Global Media Site of Daimler confirmed that the Mercedes-AMG Project One is already nearing its final testing phase. A new video as well as photos were released to keep us updated on the development of the hypercar.

According to the company, some pre-production models of Project One are being tested on track at its Immendingen technology center located in the southern region of Germany. It would be the first time for the full-power of the vehicle will be put to the test.

As a recap, the Project One unveiled at the 2018 Paris Motor Show boasts an output of 735 kW or 1,000 hp. That comes from its hybrid power unit composed of a 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 engine and electric motors.

The objective of the latest testing is to evaluate the driving dynamics and performance of Project One at full speed. After that, the hypercar will be taken for another test on the north loop of the Nurburgring endurance track.

The video presents the actual sound of the Project One’s production version. It may not sound exactly like the Silver Arrows driven in Formula One by Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas but listening closely reveals some resemblance between the hypercar and race cars.

Speaking of the Project One and Nurburgring, former AMG CEO Tobias Moers earlier said that they are not looking to break the current record held by Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo on the endurance track.

The new CEO of Aston Martin Lagonda stated in a 2018 interview that Project One could probably beat the Nurburgring record but they do not see a point why they should even do it.
