A Look at the Mercedes-Benz EQS Concept Vehicle

A couple of weeks ago, we were presented the Mercedes-Benz EQS electric vehicle concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The Vision EQS combines luxury and carbon dioxide emission-free driving. It gives us a preview of Mercedes’ approach to its upcoming large electric salons.

Similar to the other concept cars under the EQ range, the EQS concept made its debut in contrasting silver and black finish with blue highlights in its illuminated areas. The lights, composed of 188 individual LEDs up front and 229 at the rear, have been seamlessly integrated into the body of the vehicle, and it also comes in 24-inch wheels. Mercedes said that the structure of the auto is made of steel, aluminum, carbon fiber and recycled materials.

The power of the EQS comes from two electric motors that produce a combined output of 350 kW. These push the EV from 0-100 km/h in less than 4.5 seconds. Then its battery has an electric range of 700 km based on Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) figures. Meanwhile, its battery can be charged up to 80 percent in under 20 minutes.

It is exciting to note that the upcoming EQS promises Level 3 autonomy. That means the car can steer itself, and the driver is free to remove his or her hands and even focus attention on other activities like reading and watching along the way. Another notable tech available in the EV is the Digital Light capable of communicating with pedestrians and other vehicles on the road by projecting images on the road through its headlamps.
