No doubt about it, volunteering is gratifying work. But it’s also hard work. The folks over at Volunteering Untapped Chicago understand that. On the second Saturday of each month, a bunch of generous people get together, do some good for the community, and then kick back and relax at a nearby restaurant or pub for free food and free brews.

Dress For Success
Finding a job is rough. And for some, the hardest part of that process is the interview, especially if you can’t afford a full wardrobe. Although the charity is based out of NYC, it has a Chicago branch that can always use your help. You can fill out a quick and easy form on their website if you’re interested in volunteering. If you don’t have as much time as you’d like, consider donating some of your gently used clothing or a few bucks.

Aquinas Literacy Center
Are you bilingual or even a full-blown polyglot? Have around an hour and a half free each week? ALC is a charity that helps ESL students practice their English literacy skills. If you’ve got a passion for reading and writing, this a great option.
