The Google Pixel Slate was announced on October 9, quickly grabbing the attention of many Android and Chrome OS enthusiasts. For those who those looking forward to the device, you’ll be happy to know that preorders are now open through both the Google Store and Best Buy. These preorders are set to be fulfilled on November 22, marking the official release date for the powerful Chrome OS tablet.
The Pixel Slate features a 12.3-inch 3000×2000 touchscreen display that supports the Pixelbook Pen. Google is billing it as a Molecular Display and is proud to state that it has 293 ppi. Other specs include:
- Intel Celeron or 8th-gen Intel Core m3, i5, or i7 processor
- 4GB/8GB/16GB RAM
- 32GB/64GB/128GB/256GB SSD
- 48Wh battery with fast charging (12 hours of battery life)
- 8-megapixel wide-angle front camera
- 8-megapixel rear camera
- Dual front-facing speakers
- Fingerprint scanner
- Titan security chip
- Two USB-C ports
Additionally, the Pixel slate features connectors along the bottom to connect with the Pixel Slate Keyboard (sold separately), which features hush keys, a trackpad, and a stand for the device.
Perhaps the best feature of the Pixel Slate is its tight integration with other Google products and services. Pixel 3 users can easily send and receive text messages on the Pixel Slate, while built-in Google Assistant support allows for seamless integration with Google Home devices and any other device featuring the Google Assistant.
Of course, specs depend heavily on which configuration you choose, and the price will vary accordingly. Pricing starts at $599 and goes all the way up to $1,599 for the most powerful model.
All models are available for pre-order on the Google Store, although at least one has already sold out. Best Buy is offering the the three highest-end models, as well as the optional Pixelbook Pen and Pixel Slate Keyboard.
