The sharing menu on Android isn’t exactly great. It’s been a staple of Android and was an icon of app intercompatibility that used to be unique to the platform, but now it’s a little rustic and often very slow.
Fortunately, the old menu will eventually be changed. Dave Burke, VP of Android engineering, has stated that Google is working on a new interface and new method of collecting the apps capable of using what you’re sharing.
It’s a priority, just a big job. We’re working on a redesign with a different underlying data model (push vs pull) that will be much faster and nicer to use.

While previously the list was populated every single time you opened the share menu, it seems that the Android team is working on a new system to make this faster.
It’s nice to see the Android team making it a priority. With most of Android revamped and quite nice to use, this old menu is ready for a change.
