Thirty-two years after the original classic, Tom Cruise looks good for a man of his advanced years, but not as good as his Kawasaki H2. Scheduled to hit theaters next year, Top Gun: Maverick, will also star Val “Iceman” Kilmer and will no doubt regurgitate many well-trod Hollywood hairballs dealing with guilt and redemption, as Mav interacts with the son of Goose, for whose dramatic death in the original TG he still blames himself.
In the original, all the Kawasaki badging was removed from the then-new Ninja 900 bikes Mav rode. That’s because Kawasaki had no bikes to give the film’s producers, who were upset because they had to buy them. We have a message in to Kawasaki now to see if history repeated itself yet again. Stand by.
