Google makes it easier to view and delete your Search data

Google has a lot of data through Search, and now it’s making it easier for you to not only find that data, but delete it if you so choose.

Google has announced that, beginning today, Google Search users will be able view their search data and delete it. To use the new feature from your smartphone, navigate to Google Search, select the three-line button on the top-left of the screen, and then select the new “Your Data in Search” option.

Within that page you’ll see your recent search data, an explanation from Google on how it uses that data, and you can then delete the search data. You’ll be able to either choose to delete their data from the last hour or all of your search data.

Privacy controls are easily accessible from this section as well. From there you can change your Activity Controls and select which pieces of information Google saves to your account. If you want to tweak the type of ads that Google shows you, you can do that, too, in Ad Settings.

This new feature is available starting today on mobile devices and on the desktop. It will be rolling out to the Google App for Android (and iOS) in the weeks ahead.

This is definitely a nice addition from Google. Being able to not only see your personal data, but also delete it, puts more control in the user’s hands — where it should be.
