Rootless Pixel Launcher has just surfaced on the Play Store as ‘Rootless Launcher’. This launcher has been available for a while now, but it was not available via the Play Store, which means that updates had to be manually downloaded via GitHub. Needless to say, this presents too much of an effort for most people, so the developer, Amir Zaidi, decided to publish its launcher app on the Play Store, officially.
Having said that, this is essentially a Pixel launcher for non-Pixel devices, while it comes with some additional functionality. It’s worth noting, however, that you will need a companion app in order to take full advantage of everything this app has to offer, the name of the companion app is ‘Rootless Pixel Bridge’, and the Rootless Launcher can download it for you. Now, this launcher is almost identical to the regular Pixel Launcher, but there are some differences. For one, The Feed doesn’t exactly offer the same look as on the Pixel devices, while the app also doesn’t have the app slices shortcuts if you’re running Android 9 Pie. Other than that, this app is more or less on point, ranging from the ‘At A Glance’ widget, all the way to ‘app suggestions’ that you’ll find on Pixel devices.
Now, unlike the regular Pixel Launcher, this app allows you to set a number of themes, including the Light and Dark ones that are available in the Pixel Launcher. You can apply icons packs in this launcher, and so on. All in all, if you like the Pixel Launcher, and you’d like to get it on your non-Pixel device, the Rootless Launcher may be a perfect solution for you. If you, on the other hand, like to customize your launcher experience quite a bit, then this app is definitely not for you, as it does not offer the same level of customizability as Nova Launcher, or Action Launcher, to name a few.
