The Orbic Wonder smartphone is coming to Verizon in the near future, a source familiar with the matter told AndroidHeadlines. Originally released in late December through Best Buy, Target, Walmart, Jet, Wireless Cookies, and Amazon, the device is an entry-level offering catering to budget-conscious consumers. The exact timing of its release on Verizon remains unclear, though it’s likely that the largest wireless carrier in the country will start retailing it by the end of the year, in time for the holiday season. Verizon may also sell it at under $199, which was its original price tag that some retailers already dropped to $149 in recent months.
The device offers a 5.5-inch IPS LCD screen protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 with an HD resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio, as well as a 3,000mAh battery with Qualcomm‘s Quick Charge 3.0 support. The Orbic Wonder is powered by the Snapdragon 430, an octa-core system on chip clocked at up to 1.4GHz. 16GB of storage space and a microSD card slot supporting up to 256GB of extra flash memory are also part of the package, together with 2GB of RAM, 4G LTE support, and a USB Type-C connector, with the said port being a rarity in the entry-level price bracket.
