Huawei releases updated Watch 2 (2018) in China

Huawei has launched a refreshed Watch 2 in China called the Watch 2 (2018), but it doesn’t look like it’ll be making it to the US for now. Thankfully, we’re not missing much.

The Watch 2 (2018) is identical to the older model, including the 390×390 AMOLED display, Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor, 768MB of RAM, 4GB of memory, and every other spec. The only differences made are the release of an eSIM model and a new color scheme exclusive to that model. Also included is NFC, which can be used with AliPay, Huawei Pay, and WeChat’s payment service.

The eSIM variant can be connected to your carrier without the use of a SIM card, though there is still a nano SIM variant if you want it. The exclusive color scheme for the eSIM variant is called Carbon Black, and it’s just black with neon yellow accents. It’s actually quite nice and not too bright when worn.

The two cellular models cost 2,000 yuan ($312 USD) and the standard Bluetooth model costs 1,540 yuan ($240 USD) and all are now available to purchase from Vmall.
