How To Turn On Continued Conversations On Google Home

The Google Assistant is a great assistant, in fact many would say it’s one of the best out there since it is so knowledgeable, and of course that is due to the fact that it has Google behind it. But when you are talking to Google, and asking it questions about a specific topic or person, you typically need to say “OK Google” or “Hey Google” before each question to get its attention. That’s no longer the case. You can enable “Continued Conversations” so you can say “OK Google” once, ask your question and then come back with follow up questions and the Google Assistant will still know what you are referring too. The setting for this is turned off by default, and it is hidden a bit. So let’s show you how to turn it on.

First things first, you’ll need to open up the Google Assistant on your smartphone. From there, you’ll tap on the blue circle with a rectangle in the middle. After that, tap on the three dots in the right-hand corner of the screen, and then Settings. Once you are in the settings, tap on the “Preferences” setting and then “Continued Conversations”. Then just hit the toggle to turn on Continued Conversations. That screen will also give you a quick rundown of what exactly Continued Conversations are, and also show you which speakers it will work on. Essentially it’ll work on any Google Assistant-enabled speaker, which includes the Google Home, Google Home Mini, Google Home Max, Sony’s LF-S50 Speaker and many others.

Once Continued Conversations is enabled on your account, and you start talking to Google Assistant with one of the speakers on your account, the lights on the speaker will stay illuminated while you are talking. This means that is still listening to you, and waiting for your next question. It’s a quick indicator that it is still working as it should be. But it’s just that easy to turn on Continued Conversations.
