Google Podcasts app had been introduced not long ago, and Google has just added a new feature to the beta version of the app. The so-called ‘trim silence’ feature has been added to the application, and we’re looking at Google Podcasts v8.9 here, in case you are wondering. In addition to the ‘trim silence’ option, Google has also added a number of design tweaks to the app, while a new play icon has also been added, in addition to the new waveform icon.
Now, let’s talk more about the ‘trim silence’ option, shall we. This option is not immediately visible, when you call upon the Google Podcasts app, you’ll need to access expanded audio controls in order to find it. The ‘trim silence’ option removes pauses and other gaps from your podcasts, and by doing that, it shortens the playback length. You can use both the playback speed and trim silence options in conjunction, in case you were wondering. This feature will hit the stable version of Google Podcasts app in the near future, probably in a couple of days, the moment v8.9 hits the stable channel. Google had introduced Google Podcasts for Android quite recently, on June 19, so this is a relatively new application, though it seems like users are currently not exactly enjoying it as much as Google had hoped, as Google Podcasts is currently holding a 3.4-star rating in the Google Play Store.
Google had opted to introduce Google Podcasts in a rather saturated market of podcasting applications, as a number of really solid options are available in the Play Store. Pocket Casts app is quite probably the most popular podcasting application, along with the Podcast Addict app, but there are a number of other solid option out there, like the Podcast Player app, Castbox, and Podcast Go applications.
