Google Camera Update Brings Lens Integration To Pixel, Nexus

Google has started rolling out a new update to the Google Camera app, and this update adds Google Lens integration to both Pixel and Nexus smartphones. This update comes with a model number 5.2.025, and the Google Lens integration it brings has been presented at this year’s Google I/O. OnePlus, Motorola and Sony have already started implementing this feature in their smartphones, and now both Pixel and Nexus devices are getting it as well.

Now, this is essentially just a new way to access Google Lens, rather than anything else. Once you install this update, you will be able to access Google Lens by opening Google Camera’s navigation drawer, and then hitting the hamburger icon at the top left. Alternatively, you can swipe from the left edge to the center in order to open that very same menu, of course. If you’ve never used Google Lens before, you can use this feature to recognize specific products in an image, copying text from a piece of paper using your camera, reading barcodes, and so on. So, for example, you can activate Google Lens, point your phone’s camera to the Galaxy S9, and Google Lens will probably be able to recognize that phone, and offer you some links based on it, including its listing on Amazon, for example. One of the Google Lens’ newer features lets you scan a piece of paper, and Google Lens will be able to digitalize that content for you.

Having said that, the Google Camera 5.2.025 update should become available to your device in the near future, if it’s not already, and if you’re using a Pixel or Nexus device, this version’s main feature will become available as well. If you’re unwilling to wait for this update, and you’d like to update your app manually, you can download Google Camera 5.2.025 from the provided link down below. Sideloading an app or manually updating it is really simple, you do have to navigate to your security settings and allow your phone to manually install APKs (not only via Play Store), and once you download the app, all you have to do is tap on it, and install it. Manual installation of this APK will basically act as an update to your current Google Photos app.
