Google Assistant Gets Spanish Support On Google Home Devices

Those of you who have been waiting for Google Assistant to start understanding the Spanish language, well, you’re in luck, as Google has just announced that it’s happening as we speak. Google Assistant on Google Home, Google Home Mini, and Google Home Max now understands Spanish. Before you ask Google Assistant whether it understands Spanish and you start using the function, you will have to navigate to the Menu in the Google Home app, click on ‘Preferences’ in the ‘Settings’ menu, and select ‘Español’ from there.

Once you’ve done all this, you can start using Google Assistant in Spanish, as long as you have one of the three Google Home devices, of course. For example, you can Google Assistant about your day by saying “Ok Google, ¿cómo será mi día?”, after which you’ll get a full rundown of your schedule for the day. If you’d like to know more about the ongoing World Cup in Russia, just say “Ok Google, ¿cuándo juega México?” or cheer for your national team by saying “Ok Google, dame un cántico de fútbol”. You can get Google Assistant to play you your top songs by saying “Ok Google, reproducir mi lista de reproducción para hacer ejercicio”, or you can get it to turn down the temperature (presuming you have a smart thermostat that is connected to Google Home) by saying: “Ok Google, sube la temperatura del termostato”. You can also celebrate your birthday by asking “Ok Google, cantamé Las Mañanitas”. These are just some examples that Google listed in its press release, and it’s also worth noting that the Google Home, Google Home Mini are available in Spanish in both Mexico and Spain.

This news actually comes less than a week after Google announced that its ‘Continued Conversation’ feature has started rolling out to the Google Home, Google Home Mini, and Google Home Max. Google had introduced ‘Continued Conversation’ feature during this year’s Google I/O, and that is one of the most important updates that arrived to Google Assistant to date.
