AT&T has unveiled its ‘Watch TV’ add-on service and two new unlimited plans to go along with it. Watch TV will be AT&T’s latest way to get more from the TV experience that’s offered by the carrier, and those who subscribe to one of its two latest unlimited plans which it also announced today, called the Unlimited &More and the Unlimited &More Premium plans, will get access to Watch TV for no extra monthly cost. Watch TV will allow users to stream live and on-demand content from 31 total networks at launch, with more planned on the way in the future, though AT&T does not mention when more networks will be added.
The collection of networks Watch TV will offer includes Cartoon Network, A&E, The Food Network, TNT, Viceland, Discovery and more, and in addition to the live content from those networks customers will be able to stream over 15,000 on-demand TV shows. Both new unlimited plans are fairly comparable but there will be a couple of extra benefits for those on the Unlimited &More Premium. For starters, customers on this plan will be able to add a premium service at no charge to the other available networks, including HBO, STARZ, SHOWTIME, Cinemax, VRV, Pandora Premium, or Amazon Music Unlimited.
Unlimited &More Premium subscribers will also get 15GB worth of tethering and high-quality video, so it’s likely there will be a slight increase in the video quality with this plan over the other. Both plans will receive a $15 monthly credit towards DIRECTV NOW, but Premium subscribers will win out here too as the credit will also apply towards DIRECTV and U-verse TV. AT&T doesn’t mention if customers with all three services will get a $15 credit towards each one, or if it applies to all three collectively, though. For those that don’t want to switch to a new unlimited plan Watch TV will be available as a standalone add-on with a $15 additional monthly cost.
