Qualcomm announced this week that it has pre-integrated their software with Google’s Android P, which should make it easier than ever for phone manufacturers to update once Android P goes stable. This is all a part of Project Treble, which may already be showing signs of some success.
Specifically, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845, 660, and 636 platforms have been pre-integrated. Any phones running those chipsets will have the opportunity to update to Android P quicker than in the past. If anything, Qualcomm has fully put the pressure on companies like Samsung to get their act together and update. Qualcomm noted in its announce that this move ensures “readiness for OEMs to upgrade to Android P at the time of launch.” Will they? Heh.
As you all know, the Snapdragon 845 is going to be the biggest of 2018 for Android phones. The Galaxy S9 and S9+ run it, so does the G7 and OnePlus 6, and there will be countless others, like the Pixel 3.
Is it happening, guys?
