A newly developed Lexus LC race car will compete in this weekend’s 24 Hours of Nürburgring Race — here’s a new video to get you hyped up:

The Nürburgring 24 Hours Endurance Race is a demanding event that takes place over 24 hours on the legendary circuit — 25km in length, a maximum altitude difference of 300m, and approximately 200 corners.

Lexus first started competing in the Nürburgring race back in 2007 with a LFA prototype, before progressing to an advanced LFA production model and then the RC F SPORT.

The LC coupe has undergone substantial changes in preparation of the race — here’s a breakdown of the modifications:

  • Body technology development (reducing weight, increasing rigidity)
  • Driver assistance technology (enhancing visibility, etc.)
  • Aerodynamics development
  • Engine development (increasing power by reducing friction, enhancing fuel economy, etc.)
  • Suspension technology (reducing weight, increasing rigidity, enhancing responsiveness, etc.)

Driving the LC will be Takeshi Tsuchiya, Takamitsu Matsui, Naoya Gamo, and Yuichi Nakayama:
