New month, new Android distribution numbers.
Google today posted its latest Android platform distribution stats, which measure the versions of Android that were used to access the Play Store during the 7-day period ending on May 7. Android Oreo (8.0 and 8.1) was on 5.7 percent of devices, up from 4.6 percent in April.
Android Nougat (7.0 and 7.1) was the only other version that saw its usage grow from April to May, going from 30.8 percent to 31.1 percent.
Android Marshmallow (6.0) slipped from 26 percent in April to 25.5 percent in May and Android Lollipop (5.0 and 5.1) dropped from 22.9 percent in April to 22.4 percent in May. Android KitKat (4.4) saw a tiny usage drop from 10.5 percent in April to 10.3 percent in May, while Android Jelly Bean (4.1-4.3) also experienced a 0.2 percent drop to finish at 4.3 percent.
Rounding things out is Android Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) and Android Gingerbread (2.3), which held steady from April to May at 0.4 percent and 0.3 percent usage, respectively.
