Following the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S Pacific Rim-themed teaser video which surfaced earlier today, two new video teasers have popped up. These new videos are a bit more mysterious, they were both shared by the company via Weibo (Chinese social network), and both of them feature famous painters and their artwork. We have included links to both videos below this article, in case you want to check them out, as embedding them was not an option due to the fact they come from Weibo.
The first video is teasing the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S’ facial recognition feature, which will be able to recognize your face even if you’re wearing a hat, at least according to this teaser, and changes when it comes to facial hair probably won’t affect its performance either. That teaser actually shows us a video montage set to Johann Strauss’ Voices of Spring classical tune. Now, the other teaser video features famous paintings, and in that video, you will also see a symbol which will signal a scene-recognition feature. This is probably suggesting that the Mi MIX 2S will have some camera AI features, and that it will be able to recognize a scene to optimize an image that you take. So, the Mi MIX 2S is expected to recognize landscape, buildings, people, pets, and so on. That is pretty much it as far as these teasers are concerned, though it is worth noting that the Mi MIX 2S will be announced on March 27 in China, and that a ton of info regarding this smartphone surfaced already.
The company’s brand ambassador, Kris Wu, shared several images of the Mi MIX 2S quite recently, while the company’s CEO reshared those images soon after. The Mi MIX 2S will sport really thin bezels, and it will resemble its predecessor, the Mi MIX 2, quite a bit. The Mi MIX 2S is, unlike the Mi MIX 2, expected to sport a dual camera setup on the back, while the phone will probably ship with a rear-facing fingerprint scanner as well. The device will be fueled by the Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core processor, that had been confirmed earlier, while the device will ship with the company’s MIUI 9 skin, which will be included on top of Android Nougat or Oreo. The phone will probably launch in both 6GB and 8GB RAM variants, and it’s even possible that Xiaomi will manufacture glass + metal and ceramic unibody variants of the Mi MIX 2S, as was the case with the Mi MIX 2.
