The Mercedes-Benz GLB was spotted again while it was undergoing testing in Scandinavia. The new SUV from the German luxury brand is expected to come out in 2019 as a 2020 model, but some predicted that it might be unveiled sometime this year.
Based on the spy shots, the GLB appears to be very spacious. There seems to be plenty of room at the rear passenger area of the vehicle. Reports say that a seven-passenger version of the SUV is being made too.
The GLB will a make use of the MFA2 platform of Mercedes, which is also utilized by the automaker in its small front-wheel vehicles. Despite sharing the same platform with the likes of the GLA, the GLB shows a boxy body and those who have seen the prototypes of the auto in the flesh noted that it displays more upright lines. Some described it as a “baby G-Class”.
Several sources said that the GLB might have an all-wheel drive as a standard feature. Then it will most probably carry the latest four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines of Mercedes. Expect the SUV to be equipped with at least the luxury elements found in the GLA or any of the units of its maker under the $36,000-mark.
The GLB was confirmed in 2016 when Mercedes trademarked it. AMG variants and electrified versions of the SUV are expected as well.
