Google is improving its Jamboard and Hangouts Meet hardware and is doing so through a series of updates to both the software features and the hardware itself. In an official blog post today Google highlighted some of the improvements it plans to make to the series of devices that it wants businesses to use as part of the G Suite offering for meetings and boardrooms, beginning with adding some new hardware options for Hangouts Meet.
This includes expanding the reach of Hangouts Meet hardware so that it can more easily fill out a larger conference room or boardroom. As part of this improvement Google is launching the Hangouts Meet room kit in two additional countries – Denmark and the Netherlands, and its also launching a new Hangouts Meet room kit that is designed to better suit a larger room. The kit more or less comes with the same hardware as before though Google is switching a couple of things out. For one the kit built for larger rooms comes with a new camera, as Google notes that it will use the Logitech PTZ Pro 2, which allows for panning and tilting and it comes with a 10x optical zoom. The kit will also now come with a standalone Meet speakermic that Google says is custom-designed by the company, and which can be daisy chained together with four other speakermics for excellent audio quality throughout the room.
In regards to the Jamboard improvements, there will be a new AutoDraw feature to look out for which will introduce the ability to make sketches on the digital white board and have it recognize and then match those sketches with images, and the app for Jamboard is now part of the core G Suite app offering. On top of all of this Google is launching the Jamboard in new countries, too. Following current availability in the U.S. and the UK, Google will now be offering it in Denmark, the Netherlands, Ireland, Sweden, Norway, France, Spain, and Finland. Google doesn’t mention specifically if any of these changes are immediately available, so it’s possible that the additional countries may not have access to the hardware just yet.
