Samsung Galaxy S9 & Galaxy S9 Plus Leak In A New Image

The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus leaked yet again on Tuesday, having been shown with their backs turned to the camera in an image that can be seen above. The latest sighting of Samsung’s upcoming Android flagship duo is entirely in line with recent reports about the two handsets that are set to differ from each other much more than the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus did. The Galaxy S9 seen in the latest leak appears to be of the Orchid Grey variety, whereas the Galaxy S9 Plus is shown with a Midnight Black finish. The back panels of the two handsets are covered with glass and have been redesigned to a large degree, with their fingerprint readers now being positioned beneath the phones’ camera setups instead of to their right.

The area previously occupied by the fingerprint reader now accommodates a dual-LED (dual-tone) flash unit and a heart rate monitor which previously resided on the opposite side of Samsung’s ultra-premium Android devices. The Galaxy S9 appears to be set to succeed the single-lens camera setup found on its direct predecessor, whereas the Galaxy S9 Plus will be Samsung’s second flagship with a dual-camera system after the Galaxy Note 8. Unlike the 2017 phablet, the two lenses found on the back of the Galaxy S9 Plus are arranged in a vertical manner, according to a wide variety of reports and leaks, including the one seen here. The size difference of the two newly spotted devices gives more credence to rumors claiming the pair will succeed the 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch panels found on their predecessors which were of the Super AMOLED variety and boasted QHD+ resolutions with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio.

The South Korean tech giant is expected to officially announce the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus at MWC 2018 which is starting in late February and should begin retailing the two handsets by mid-March. Both are expected to run Android 8.0 Oreo-based Samsung Experience 9.0 out of the box and sport price tags comparable to those attached to the Galaxy S8 lineup, i.e. start around $700. Samsung‘s Galaxy S9 series is likely to continue the tradition of the company’s previous high-end offerings and seize the title of the commercially most successful Android product family in 2018.
