A new 3D render shows off what is claimed to be Motorola’s upcoming Moto E5. The Lenovo-owned company is rumored to be preparing a wide range of devices as part of its 2018 lineup, with the Moto E4’s successor expected to be one of the first to make it to the market. Now, with the Moto E5, a new render appears to show that the company will once again be making some minimal design changes in order to refine the line’s look, just like with previous iterations.
Looking at the renders, it appears Motorola has once again opted for an aluminum construction, though it appears slightly more simplistic this time around. In terms of the rear panel, the previously-seen antenna bands look to have been scrapped, in favor of a more sleek design. Not only this, but the Chicago-based company has retained its signature circular camera component, which houses a single sensor alongside an LED flash. Also, just like Motorola’s other devices, the famous “M” batwing logo is once again present, but this time it is said to house the device’s fingerprint sensor which has been moved from the front-placement seen on last year’s Moto E4. Also, as an added piece of protection for the sensor, it looks as though Motorola has placed a glass overlay on top of the sensor. Moving on to the front panel, Motorola appears to be sticking to a more traditional 16:9 display, despite the recent trends towards taller aspect ratios, while sitting above this is a front-facing camera and LED flash. Other design features include a 3.5mm headphone jack and what looks to be a micro-USB port, instead of the newer USB Type-C connector that is seen on the majority of new devices.
Spec-wise, rumors point towards a 5-inch display, just like its predecessor, 16GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM, while in the software department, Android 8.0 Oreo will likely be pre-installed straight out of the box. Motorola is yet to officially confirm any details surrounding the Moto E5, but it’s rumored that the Lenovo-owned company will debut the device at MWC 2018 in Barcelona next month, possibly making its debut alongside the rumored Moto G6 and G6 Plus at the event.
