President of Samsung Mobile, DJ Koh, basically confirmed earlier this month that the Galaxy S9 will launch at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, and now we have a confirmation regarding the company’s press conference for MWC. Mobile World Congress’ official website revealed that Samsung plans to host an event on February 26, an event which will start at 3PM CET / 6AM PST. If you take a look at the provided image down below, you will also find out which Hall will the event be held in, and this listing also confirms that the company is planning for a lengthy event, and some of the announcements will probably be the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus.
It is worth noting that Samsung still did not confirm anything, though this information does come from Mobile World Congress’ official website, so chances are that it’s pretty accurate, and it’s a really strong hint that the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus will be announced on February 26. Samsung is not the only company which will host its press conference on February 26, though, Sony is also confirmed to be hosting its keynote on February 26, and chances are that the company will announce the Xperia XZ and Xperia XZ Pro flagship handsets during that press conference, two devices which are expected to show us the company’s new design language, and which are expected to sport considerably thinner bezels than the company’s previously-released devices. In any case, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus have been leaking out for quite some time now, and even though we’ve seen quite a few contradicting leaks thus far, chances are that those two devices will resemble its predecessors, though they will sport a somewhat different-looking back side, and also feature even thinner bezels.
The Galaxy S9 is actually rumored to sport a single camera on the back, while the Galaxy S9 Plus will sport two snappers on its back, at least if both rumors and leaks are accurate. In addition to that, the Galaxy S9 Plus will be a larger phone, with a larger battery and display as a result, but the two devices will probably be quite similar in every other aspect. It is possible that Samsung will opt to include different RAM count in those two phones, the Galaxy S9 could end up sporting 4GB of RAM, while the ‘Plus’ variant could ship with 6GB of RAM, though we’re only guessing, it is possible that both will sport 6GB of RAM. Both Snapdragon 845 and Exynos 9810 SoC will be available once again, and both devices will ship with a rear-facing fingerprint scanner.
