Euronews now has the opportunity to bring its trademark 360-degree interactive content to a much wider audience, thanks to a new partnership with The Dream VR. That’s according to a joint announcement from both Euronews and The Dream VR. Specifically, the reveal indicated that a deal had been reached which allows for Euronews content to be published across the platforms for which The Dream VR’s application or service is available. No financial details were included as part of the announcement from both companies. However, users on those platforms should already be able to access some of Euronews most popular interactive 360-degree news content as of this writing and, of course, more will be published as it is produced.
For those who may not already be aware, The Dream VR has a huge reach in the 360-degree and VR media world. Either its services or its applications are available for Samsung Smart TVs, Apple TV, iOS, Android, Google Daydream, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Samsung Gear VR, Topying, and Pico across more than 180 countries. PlayStation VR is expected to be added to that list soon, as well. According to The Dream VR, that could help Euronews expand its audience by as many as 350 million viewers with only Samsung’s Smart TV and Apple TV being taken into consideration. It isn’t likely that every owner of one of those devices will tune in, but the content will be there if they ever do and Euronews will likely gain substantial growth regardless. Users on non-VR platforms won’t be left out of the full experience either – being able to use the arrow keys on the remote control for their respective displays.
Meanwhile, The Dream VR stands to gain from the deal as well, with the appearance of the world’s only 360-degree news interactive content on its platforms. Up until this point, the company has already welcomed content from Disney, Sony, Universal, Univision, leading soccer clubs, and more – stacking up to around 150 available channels. Moreover, both companies should benefit from the plan for monetizing the new Euronews content. Display advertisements will be included on the Euronews channel in order to further support both companies.
