The Xiaomi Mi A1 was announced back in September, as Xiaomi’s first Android One smartphone, and a new, special edition, variant of this phone has just landed as well. The Xiaomi Mi A1 Special Edition Red model has been announced in Indonesia, and it is now available in the country. The price of the device in the country stands at 3.099.000 rupiahs, which translates to $228, in case you were wondering.
This red-colored Xiaomi Mi A1 joins the Black, Gold and Rose Gold Xiaomi Mi A1 variants which had been announced earlier. The Special Edition Red Xiaomi Mi A1 is available in Indonesia via Lazada, Mi Authorized store in the country. At the moment we really do not know if the red-colored Mi A1 will become available anywhere else, but stay tuned, it is possible that Xiaomi may opt to widen the reach of this phone. Having said that, the Xiaomi Mi A1 Special Edition Red model is completely identical to every other Mi A1 unit out there in pretty much every other way, save for the color of its shell, of course. It is also worth noting that the company actually released the Red variant of the Mi 5X back in October, and the Mi 5X is identical to the Mi A1 in every way, except for the software that ships with the device, as MIUI comes pre-installed on the Mi 5X, while stock Android comes with the Xiaomi Mi A1.
The Xiaomi Mi A1 is the company’s first Android One smartphone, as already mentioned, this essentially means that stock Android comes pre-installed on it, and that it will receive updates (to new versions of Android) faster than usual. The Xiaomi Mi A1 is made out of metal, it sports a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display, while the phone packs in 4GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage. The Xiaomi Mi A1 is fueled by the Snapdragon 625 64-bit octa-core processor, while the phone packs in a 3,080mAh non-removable battery. Two 12-megapixel cameras are included on the back of the Mi A1, while a single 5-megapixel snapper is placed on the device’s front side. Android 7.1.2 Nougat comes pre-installed on the Xiaomi Mi A1, but Android 8.0 Oreo is on the way, and it’s expected to land soon.
