The Q – Live Trivia Game Show Hits Android With Cash Prizes

There’s a new game on Android for users who love trivia, called The Q – Live Trivia Game Show, which offers an interesting twist on the trivia genre. Rather than simply playing with other users, The Q follows in the footsteps of another game from the makers of Vine called HQ Trivia. For those who aren’t aware, HQ Trivia is an app that was released on iOS several months back and is set for release on Android in the near future. Like that other game, The Q is played in sessions that are set to occur at scheduled times. It follows that format because unlike other trivia games, this game is played in a way that is more akin to a TV game show than a mobile game.

To play The Q, users log in at specified times based on a schedule, with notifications arriving in advance to let them know a game is coming up. A live host will then be streamed directly to their devices and they’ll need to answer general knowledge questions that get harder as the session progresses. Because the show must go on and play occurs on a schedule, the questions are, of course, also timed. Players are eliminated for answering questions incorrectly or not answering quickly enough. The winner at the end of the round isn’t simply awarded through achievements or a ranking system either. Instead, as with real TV game shows and only a few select Android games, the overall winner can walk away with real money in their pocket. The winnings can be as much as $300 if there is only one winner since the winnings are split between contestants who manage to finish the game without being eliminated.

Unfortunately, because The Q – Live Trivia Game Show is a live-streaming title, there are one or two caveats for consideration. First, users have complained that the video feed sometimes cuts out. The questions do almost always seem to make it through to the devices of end-users, but any inconsistency in the video itself could quickly become annoying over the course of a game. Beyond that, as mentioned above, winnings are split between all winning contestants. That means it is possible that winners will walk away with a very small amount, with regard to prizes. Finally, a Facebook login is required to play, which could be prohibitive to some who want to check it out. With all of that said, it does look as though the game is worth a look since it is free to download with no in-app-purchases to speak of. The title is also likely to get better over time as the developers continue to work out the various bugs that have been reported so far and because it is still fairly new, in addition to being presented in a relatively untested format compared to other games.
