Samsung Galaxy A8 & A8 Plus Shown Off In YouTube Review

A new video on YouTube appears to show off Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy A8 (2018) series in all its glory. It’s been rumored for some time now that Samsung’s Galaxy A series would be receiving a major redesign next year, among other things. Today, a video posted on the YouTube account Cambo Report appears to confirm all of the rumors and, considering the video looks to have been uploaded ahead of time, the eventual launch of the updated series is likely near.

As the title of the video confirms, the new duo of devices will do away with the previous Galaxy A5 and A7 monikers, in favor of the Galaxy A8 and A8 Plus names. In addition to this, Samsung appears to have scrapped the successor to the smaller Galaxy A3 altogether. As the video commences, the re-positioned rear fingerprint scanner is confirmed, with the sensor now sitting directly beneath the rear camera’s of both devices, the latter of which is accompanied by a single-LED flash in both cases. In terms of the selfie-sensor, it appears the dual-camera rumor was accurate, with the main sensor sporting a 16-megapixel resolution, and the secondary camera being an 8-megapixel sensor. Further into the video, the new rumored front design is also shown off, with the new 18:9 display’s present, though the top and bottom bezels remain pretty thick. Also confirmed is the availability of the devices in both Black and Gold colors, as well as an unspecified IP rating. Just like this year’s Galaxy A series, the 2018 line will once again include side-facing speakers, though, interestingly, Samsung hasn’t included a dedicated Bixby button as was previously rumored. Also, on the software side of things, Samsung has jumped on the face-detection hype train and looks to have included its own alternative in the devices.

Regarding specifications, it appears the South Korean giant will be taking a similar approach to the Galaxy S8 line. Both the Galaxy A8 and A8 Plus will be powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 7885 processor, with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage also included. The only major differences being in the display size and the batteries, with the smaller model including a 3000mAh pack, and the larger option housing a 3500mAh one. Samsung is yet to confirm an official release date for the device, but considering the devices shown in the video are likely review units sent out by the company, the release is likely to be sometime next month.
