According to industry insider Roland Quandt, Samsung’s Galaxy A (2018) could be arriving in three recognizable colors. The tipster with a solid track record recently said that Samsung’s Galaxy A8 (2018) will be made available in Black, Gold, and Orchid Gray, the same three colors that Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S8 line are available in.
Recent leaks have shown that Samsung looks to be pushing the Galaxy A series in terms of features, with a number of changes coming this year. Other than the new color options that have been taken from the company’s flagship devices, the South Korean giant also looks to be adding its Infinity displays to the series, albeit without the curved edges on either side. The company is also expected to carry over its flagship naming scheme. In recent years, Samsung has opted to release a Plus model alongside a smaller Galaxy S variant, while it skipped a number in order to bring the Galaxy Note series in line with its Galaxy S offerings. Now, though, it appears the company will do away with the usual Galaxy A5 and A7 names, with next devices reportedly being set to go by the Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A8 Plus (2018) monikers, in the hope of bringing them in line with flagship offerings. However, these aren’t the only changes the Galaxy A line looks set to experience next year. Due to the Infinity display, Samsung is expected to move the fingerprint scanner to the rear of the device, just below its camera. The phone’s imaging capabilities may also be significantly improved with the adoption of a dual-camera setup that includes a main 16-megapixel sensor and a secondary 8-megapixel one.
Regarding internal specifications, the Galaxy A8 Plus (2018) is rumored to be powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 7885 processor, alongside both 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. A 3,500mAh battery should also be part of the package that’s said to come with a 6.0-inch screen. Lastly, in terms of the rear camera, a regular 16-megapixel sensor will most likely be featured despite the fact that the front-facing setup is said to entail two lenses. The Galaxy A8 (2018), on the other hand, is rumored to feature a similar spec sheet, with the exception of a slightly smaller display and battery, as well as less RAM.
