According to a new rumor that just surfaced, Meizu’s CEO, Huang Zhang, will personally lead the company’s ‘Blue Charm’ division. Earlier this year, the company announced that it’s splitting into three divisions, Meizu, Blue Charm and Flyme. The first division remained in charge of the company’s flagship handset, and is lead by the company’s CEO, while the company’s VP, Li Nan, was supposed to lead the ‘Blue Charm’ division, but if this new rumor is to be believed, the company’s CEO will personally handle the company’s ‘Blue Charm’ division as well.
The company’s Blue Charm division is in charge of releasing entry-level and mid-range smartphones, and also accessories for the company’s handsets, along with some other gadgets. This rumor claims that the company’s CEO will be directly involved in the product planning and building in the Blue Charm division. It is currently not known what this means for Li Nan, as he was named the President of the Blue Charm division earlier this year. In any case, the company is expected to release a couple of smartphones in the coming months, namely the Meizu M6s and the Meizu M15 Plus, while one additional, mysterious phone leaked recently as well. The Meizu M6s had surfaced a couple of times thus far, and this is the device which will probably be released by the Blue Charm division, as one of the company’s ‘mBlu’ devices. The Meizu M15 Plus, on the other hand, is expected to become the company’s flagship smartphone, and it was already confirmed that it will be announced in the Sprint. The Meizu M15 Plus will probably ship with very thin bezels, and its design also leaked already.
Having said that, the company’s Head of Global Marketing, Ard Boudeling, revealed recently that the company managed to grow 50 percent on a global scale, even if its market share dropped in China. Judging by recent reports and restructuring within the company, Meizu has big plans for next year, and it will be interesting to see if it can improve its position in the market even further, even though the competition in the smartphone market is quite fierce at the moment, especially in China and India.
