OxygenOS 4.5.15 Brings Various Fixes To The OnePlus 5

OnePlus has started rolling out a new update for the OnePlus 5, those of you who own the device should soon get, if you haven’t already, OxygenOS 4.5.15. This update is currently rolling out OTA (over-the-air), and you should essentially get notified as soon as the update is available for your device, though do keep in mind that not all phones will get it straight away, as this is a staged rollout, as per usual.

Now, as far as new features are concerned, well, this update does not bring new features, Android Oreo or anything of the sort, but it does fix up quite a few things. The company did its best to improve the GPS on the OnePlus 5, so if you have been having issues with navigation in any way, such problems should no longer be present after you update your phone to OxygenOS 4.5.15. In addition to that, some OnePlus 5 users were not able to set customized alarm ringtones for some reason, and that problem has also been fixed in this update, and the same can be said for the issue with sharing emoji from Bitmoji. This update will also update your phone’s Android security patch to October, and on top of all that, the company has also fixed up various other bugs, as is the case in every update. Those of you who are wondering when will Android 8.0 Oreo land on the OnePlus 5, well, you’ll have to wait until next year to get that update. The company said that Android 8.0 Oreo will arrive for the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T early next year. This update had landed to the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T a while back, but OnePlus stopped rolling it out soon after, as the company still has to iron out some bugs, so… sit tight.

The OnePlus 5 is no longer the latest and greatest OnePlus has to offer, but it’s close to it. The OnePlus 5T and OnePlus 5 are actually quite similar in many ways, both are fueled by the same SoC, come with same RAM and storage options, while they also shared the same display resolution and the same main camera. The OnePlus 5T does sport a secondary shooter made for low light photography, a larger display with a different aspect ratio, and a more modern look. If none of that is your priority, the OnePlus 5 is basically as powerful as the OnePlus 5T, though the phone is no longer available for purchase from the company.
