OPPO appears ready to turn last year’s unveiling of a New Years Anniversary Edition of its then-flagship – the OPPO R9s – into a tradition, with reports now surfacing that the company’s R11s will be getting an Anniversary Edition, as well. The anniversary edition also appears to feature the red color variant of the device. As with that prior special edition device, the changes being made to the OPPO R11s are purely cosmetic. However, fans of the company are sure to appreciate the small changes being made, which will definitely make OPPO’s flagship stand out from the rest.
As alluded to above, the changes being made to the device are relatively small and would really only be noticeable when viewing the back of the device. That’s because the device has been retrofitted with some striking gold accents on that side. Moving from top to bottom, that starts with the dual-camera surround on the R11s, which has been swapped to include a gold-plated finish. That same change has been applied to the company’s logo, which sits just below the camera array and has gone from silver to gold. Finally, a second gold-plated emblem has been included near the bottom of the device. There are no known changes being made to the device’s internal components and there don’t appear to be any further adjustments being made on the outside, either. That means, of course, that the specs will almost certainly stay as they are for the original OPPO R11s. That shouldn’t be too surprising since that device was only recently put up for pre-order and, as it is a flagship device, there aren’t likely to be a lot of improvements that can be made on that front.
Unfortunately, for those who are considering trading up to the New Year Anniversary Edition of the OPPO R11s, there is still no word as to how much it will actually cost. Moreover, there hasn’t even been any indication of which regions it will eventually be made available in or which operators it will work with. It is not expected to cost substantially more than the original OPPO R11s and it probably isn’t a stretch to assume it will function on the same networks and regions as the standard edition. However, that hasn’t been confirmed and it may be best not to jump to conclusions until the company officially provides more information.
