Lightroom For Android Receives New Auto Tool & App Shortcuts

Adobe has added a new feature, bug fixes, speed improvements and storage management controls to the Android version of its photo editing app, Lightroom, as part of the latest update rolling out to smartphones. One major change that comes with this update is the revamped Auto Settings, which now analyzes your photo against a huge volume of other refined images in order to produce a picture with a better post-processing quality. Auto Settings uses Adobe’s Sensei-powered neural network to scan tens of thousands of edited photos and automatically apply preset filters to your own image to create a better result than the original capture. As well as the Android platform, the new Auto Settings also rolled out to the full ecosystem of Lightroom CC, including the iOS and desktop platforms, as well as the Lightroom Classic and Adobe Camera Raw.

For Android in particular, there is a host of other improvements to the photo editing app besides the new Auto Settings, including App Shortcuts, which allows you to instantly open the app in various modes simply by pressing and holding on the app’s icon. Keep in mind, though, that this new capability is available only on the Android 7.0 Nougat and later versions of the operating system. Adobe also introduced more options to control the storage management feature of the app. On top of these enhancements, a plethora of bug fixes also arrived for Lightroom for Android, which addressed several prior issues with the app such as the one that disabled the importing of images from some Huawei devices, a problem with the Google Pixel 2 smartphone that caused the app to crash when exporting images, and an issue with some Samsung devices that prevented the installation of the app’s previous version.

Lightroom for Android was last updated in October of this year when Adobe added support for the Pixelbook, HDR support, and an improved search function. The launch of these new improvements came alongside the announcement of two products after Adobe split the Lightroom solution into Lightroom Classic and a new cloud-based Lightroom program. Last July, Lightroom for Android also received a major redesign intended to help you edit photos on your mobile device faster.
