LG has just introduced a new sub-brand, LG ThinQ. The company says that this brand will identify all of its 2018 home appliances, consumers electronics, and services which utilize artificial intelligence (AI), so essentially, if a product is AI-related and belongs in one of the categories that we’ve mentioned, it will ship with a ‘ThinQ’ name attached to it. LG also said that ThinQ products will have the ability to ‘employ deep learning’ and communicate amongst themselves, which was to be expected considering this is AI we’re talking about here. The company also mentioned that such tech will utilize various AI technologies. Including LG’s very own DeepThinQ technology, but also third-party solutions.
For those of you who don’t remember, LG first talked about DeepThinQ technology about a year ago, back during CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas, in January. LG also opened up an AI lag in Seoul back in June in order to push its AI technology forward. The company said that this lab actually played a huge part in the development of the world’s first space-learning air conditioner, and the same can be said for the company’s smart refrigerators, washing machines and robot vacuums. In its press release, LG also mentioned its LG SmartThinQ applications which is available for Android, and also iOS. This application manages all LG appliances that you may have in your home, and it offers Alexa and Google Assistant integration as well. All in all, it seems like LG is looking to improve its AI products moving forward, which is why the company announced the ‘LG ThinQ’ brand, as it will be easier for consumers to recognize LG’s AI-based home appliances, consumer electronics, and services.
In its press release, LG also invited CES 2018 attendees to check the company’s ThinQ Zone which will feature a number of LG’s QI products, and you can find that at the LG booth at CES, at the Las Vegas Convention Center (Booth $11100, Central Hall). If you’re planning to visit this booth and check out LG’s ThinQ Zone, make sure to do so between January 9 and January 12. LG will almost certainly talk more about its AI technology during CES 2018, so we won’t exactly have to wait long to learn more. The company will, quite probably, introduce some new AI-focused gadgets as well, but we’re only guessing at this time, stay tuned.
