The upcoming Honor 9 Lite was recently spotted on the virtual shelves of one Chinese online retailer alongside a couple of price tags. According to the retailer, the Honor 9 Lite equipped with 32GB of on-board memory will launch for 1,999 yuan or the rough equivalent of $302 at today’s conversion rate, whereas the model featuring 64GB of storage will be available for 2,399 Yuan, or $362. It should be reminded that the device has yet to be officially introduced and these prices thus remain subject to change.
Whether or not the Honor 9 Lite will start at 1,999 yuan should become clear within the next few days, as the OEM previously confirmed it’s revealing the device later this week, having already started sending press invites for a product launch event scheduled for Thursday, December 21st. Having said that, at least one online retailer in China decided to prepare for the smartphone’s imminent arrival a few days ahead of time, though it’s unclear whether prospective buyers in China will be able to pre-purchase or reserve the device. The product page also appears to contain a handful of press renders depicting the smartphone, confirming a dual-camera setup on both the back and front panels, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, as well as the taller 18:9 aspect ratio with thinner side bezels flanking the display.
The Honor 9 Lite was previously approved by China’s regulatory agency TENAA where most of its hardware characteristics have already been uncovered ahead of time. According to TENAA, the smartphone will be equipped with a 5.65-inch display bearing a resolution of 2160 x 1080 and will rely on an unspecified 8-core processor clocked at up to 2.63GHz. Also worth noting is that the device was seen running two different RAM configurations including 3GB and 4GB, though the Chinese online retailer mentioned above seems to only have the 4GB model in its listing. Having said that, if the Honor 9 will also be launched with less RAM, it will likely be accompanied by a slightly lower price tag, possibly around 1,799 yuan ($271) for the model with 32GB of on-board memory, and 2,199 yuan ($332) for the 64GB variant. The handset is likely to make its way to India and a number of other markets outside of Honor’s home country.
