Heads up, Samsung Gear S3 owners, because there’s a significant update coming your way.
Samsung today announced its Value Pack update for its Gear S3 smartwatches. This update brings several notable features and helps to make the experience of using the Gear S3 better.
Included in the update are some improvements to the Gear S3′s workout functionality. Real-time heart rate monitoring now has improved accuracy and detailed feedback, and users can also better track their nutrition thanks to the ability to add calories consumed, check their calorie balance, and compare it to their daily target.
Also included in the Value Pack update are communication-centric goodies. Users can now create contacts on the Gear S3 as well as create events, adding information like date and time, reminder alerts, and location.
Gear S3 owners can also view and edit checklists, video and web reminders created on their synced smartphone. This lets you do things like create a shopping list on your phone and then check items off that list on your watch as you’re shopping.
Samsung has included some usability improvements with its Gear S3 Value Pack update as well. Widgets have been optimized so that users can view more info on the Gear S3′s circular screen at once, and there’s a band around the perimeter of the screen that can show more widget info, like contact names or the time remaining on an alarm.
Users can also use the Gear S3 bezel to move from a text notification to a reply. There’s now support for creating and editing quick replies on the Gear S3, too.
Rounding out this Value Pack update is the ability to sort apps in the order in which they were most recently used, the ability to access the Moment Bar by swiping up or down from any screen to view info like the volume and battery levels, and an improved and image-centric UI for syncing your Gear S3 with your smartphone.
The Gear S3′s Value Pack update is now available and can be downloaded using the Samsung Gear app.
