Many LG G6 users were wondering when will Android 8.0 Oreo land on their devices, well, we have some good news on that front, as it seems like LG is testing Android 8.0 Oreo. The Android 8.0 Oreo-powered LG G6 has surfaced on Geekbench, which more or less confirms that the update is on the way. The LG G6 was announced back in February this year, and the device originally arrived with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, while LG’s UX 6.0 UI was included on top of it, and it’s quite possible that the next update of LG’s UI will push it to version 7.0, while Android 8.0 Oreo will run underneath it, of course.
The LG-H870 popped up on Geekbench, which is one of the LG G6 variants, and this listing does not exactly reveal anything new, aside from the fact that Android 8.0 Oreo is coming. The device that was tested, though, managed to score 1,858 points in the single-core, and 4,137 points in the multi-core benchmark test, which is nothing out of the ordinary. Android 8.0 Oreo could arrive to the LG G6 by the end of the year, though LG did not confirm anything just yet, but chances are we’ll see it release in the next month or two. So, what will this update bring to the LG G6? Well, you can expect to see most of Android 8.0 Oreo features included in LG’s custom UI, if not all of them, which means that the G6 users will get the Picture-in-Picture mode, notification dots, new emoji… and so much more. This update will also add some more functionality to the notification shade, along with some new animations, while auto-fill feature will not be functional within apps, and will have some new tricks up its sleeve. It’s also worth noting that Android 8.0 Oreo has significantly more power when it comes to battery management, as it has a better grip on rogue apps, and is supposed to stop any battery draining apps in the background, that’s a feature that we’re also expecting to see when Android 8.0 Oreo lands on the LG G6.
The LG G6 is LG’s flagship smartphone for this year, well, at least it was before the LG V30 arrived, and it is made out of metal and glass. The phone sports a dual camera setup on the back while, it is fueled by the Snapdragon 821 64-bit quad-core SoC. The LG G6 sports a 5.7-inch QHD+ FullVision display, and that display is both Dolby Vision and HDR10 compliant. If you’d like to know more about the device, follow this link.
