A new set of renders allegedly shows off the final design of Vivo’s upcoming Xplay 7. This year the smartphone industry has seen an increased push towards bezel-less designs with devices such as Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8, Xiaomi’s Mi Mix 2, and LG’s V30 setting the industry standard, but, although these are all certainly good attempts, they don’t quite reach the goal of being completely bezel-less. Now, though, a new set of renders allegedly show off Vivo’s Xplay 7 and, if accurate, the company may be the first to remove bezels completely, well, almost completely.
Looking at the front panel of the renders, the design shown off would certainly set a new industry standard, with extremely minimal bezels wrapping around the display and no notch at the top or bottom. Instead, the display wraps around what look to be dual-selfie cameras, but the placement of other sensors such as the proximity sensor is unknown. It’s also no secret that Vivo was working with Qualcomm in order to implement the chip maker’s ultrasonic fingerprint scanners into their devices (at least according to leaked reports and a video that accompanied them) and, if the renders are accurate, the company may have been successful in doing so, meaning the fingerprint sensor could now sit below the display. Aside from the front panel of the device, the smartphone’s back panel looks very similar to that of last year’s Xplay 6, with the same antenna bands wrapping around the top and bottom, alongside a vertically-placed dual-camera setup and a quad-LED flash sitting directly below. Also, despite the device’s apparent slim design, the renders show off the inclusion of a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top and what could be dual-speakers at the bottom.
In terms of specifications, a set of leaked slides show the company has included Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 845 on the inside alongside a very considerable 8GB of RAM. Coupled with this is either 128 or 256Gb of internal storage depending on the user’s preference. Speaking of which, according to the renders it appears the Xplay 7 will be available in rose gold, gold, and black color options. Vivo is yet to officially confirm or announce any information surrounding the upcoming smartphone, but a number of rumors point towards a Q1 2018 launch for the smartphone, which could potentially make it the first device to implement Qualcomm’s ultrasonic fingerprint sensors.
