2017 Isle of Man TT: SES TT Zero Results

Bruce Anstey won his second-straight TT Zero electric race at the Isle of Man TT, finishing the single-lap challenge with a time of 19:19.924, averaging a speed of 117.710 mph. Though the winning time was slower than last year – let alone John McGuinness‘ record lap of 18:58.743 set in 2013 – this year’s TT Zero was notable for having all eight starters completing a full lap for the first time.

Riding the Mugen Shinden Roku, Anstey led from start to finish. Anstey held a 10.747 second advantage of Mugen teammate Guy Martin at Glen Helen, with University of Nottingham rider Daley Mathison, a podium finisher last year, another 14.6 seconds back in third.

The gap spread to 18 seconds despite Martin clocking a speed of 162.9 mph (compared to 162.1 mph for Anstey) through Sulby Straight, the fastest area of the course; Martin’s recorded speed was faster than any competitors in the 650cc Lightweight TT race earlier in the week.
