The BEST Summer Events in Toronto 2017

What I love about Toronto are the abundance of summer events that are packed into the precious warm months of June, July and August. Summers in Toronto are pretty much THE BEST. There’s some sort of crazy festival happening every weekend and so many great Toronto restaurants to check out.

So I decided to put together a compilation of the BEST summer events happening in Toronto for 2017! Grab your calendar and start marking these dates and don’t forget to check out my Top 8 Things to Do in Toronto as well!

Taste of Toronto

This epic food festival returns to Fort York with 100 taster-sized signature dishes and 60+ food and drink exhibitor (like Fat Pasha, above). Eat your way through the best of Toronto and then take part in an exclusive interactive culinary feature and demonstrations.

June 15 – 18

jackson triggs concerts

Summer Concerts at Jackson-Triggs Estate in Niagara

Ok, this one is a bit outside of the city – but I would definitely plan a weekend out to Niagara wine country around one of these casual Summer Concerts at Jackson-Triggs Estate in Niagara. Bands for 2017 include Sam Roberts Band, Bahamas, and The Sheepdogs.

June – September

salsa on st clair 2017

Salsa on St. Clair

This salsa party will feature live music, dance lessons, Latin food and activities for the whole family! The weekend event is free and runs along St. Clair Avenue West (from Winona Dr. to Christie St). Salsa on St. Clair is the largest festival of its kind in North America and will feature events spread throughout the city with lots of salsa parties, food, culture and exhibitions to celebrate.

July 8 – 9

summerlicious

Summerlicious

This prix-fixe restaurant event includes 200+ of Toronto’s top restaurants with special menus featuring delicious cuisine at an exceptional value. Reservations can be made directly with the restaurant.

To see all the menus and last-minute day-of availability, visit the Summerlicious site and book a date night out with your friends.

July 7-23

beaches jazz festival

The Beaches Jazz Festival

My suggestion would be to round-up your friends, grab your picnic blanket and head on over to the park on the TTC for a night of free jazz music and food trucks. There’s also a big street festival to wander through on Queen Street East. Learn more about The Beaches Jazz Festival.

July 7 – 30

taste of the danforth 2017

The Taste of the Danforth

Bring lots of change and small bills, as you purchase taste samplers of delicious Greek food up and down this brilliant street festival.

My secret? Go early! Which means hitting up The Taste of the Danforth on the Friday night after work with a few friends and avoiding the big weekend crowds. I also like taking the subway to the very end of the festival around Pape subway station and walking backwards towards Broadview. Transit and bike is the best way to get to the fest! Parking lots are small and street parking will be extremely limited.

August 11 – 13

CNE 2017

The Canadian National Exhibition

The CNE has always captured the essence of all things summer for me. It all started when we used to get a free pass to Ontario Place in our report cards. I know with that free pass, we would cross the bridge over to the CNE for the most epic day of fun in the entire summer.

I definitely kept the tradition up as an adult. Attending with my family, cousins and husband almost every year I was in the city. I think I skipped it once because Paul and I went backpacking across Europe – The CNE is not to be missed!

August 18 – September 4

buskerfest toronto 2017 summer events

BuskerFest

One of the best street performance festivals in Canada is BACK as BuskerFest returns to Woodbine Park in Toronto. This annual summer festival raises money for Epilepsy Toronto and is North America’s largest Street Performer Festival!

Expect to see slapstick comedy, magicians, circus performers, musicians, clows, puppets and more! Admission is pay-what-you-can and is a donation to Epilepsy Toronto. It’s one of the perfect summer events for families.

September 1-4

Which summer events are you looking forward to this summer?
