MotoChic Gear® to Fund She’z MotoCamp Scholarship Program for International Female Ride Day©

(San Francisco, CA)   In honor of International Female Ride Day© 2017, MotoChic Gear® will donate 10% of its sales proceeds during the month of May to fund scholarships for Shelina Moreda’s She’z MotoCamp.

Inspired by the millions of female motorcyclists in the U.S. and beyond, MotoChic® combines leading edge design with high performance materials to create safe and stylish accessories and apparel for adventure-loving women.

International Female Ride Day© (IFRD), created in 2006 by MOTORESS® founder, Vicki Gray, is a global ride day occurring annually on the first Saturday of May. Its mission is to increase awareness of female motorcyclists across all cultures around the world, and encourage women to take up the sport. It is the world’s most important and culturally embraced event for women riders.

MotoChic® founder, Debra Chin, had her first experience riding on two wheels at She’z MotoCamp. The camp empowers women and girls with strength and confidence through motorcycle skills training. Founder Shelina Moreda, a pro racer, was the first female to race the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on a motorcycle, and more recently, the first female to race and place at the Zhuhai International Circuit in China.

Chin loved the camaraderie she felt while riding at Moreda’s camp with women from all walks of life, ages 7 to 70. Among them was Erin Hunter Sills, an AMA Female Athlete of the Year and Bonneville land-speed racer with 28 world, national and Guinness records, who would become a great source of inspiration for MotoChic®.

Chin shared, “Shelina’s camp helped change my life personally and professionally. I want to pay it forward and help give this wonderful and energizing experience to other women.”

Chin will be celebrating the official 11th global edition of International Female Ride Day© on May 6, 2017 at The Quail Motorcycle Gathering presented by Geico Motorcycles in Carmel, California by donating 10% of MotoChic® sales from the event to the She’z MotoCamp scholarship program. In addition, she and Gigi Montrose founder, Ginger Damon, collaborated on an editorial article for the event program, raising awareness about the history of International Female Ride Day© and women riders. Photos for the editorial were supplied by The Women’s Moto Exhibit.

Though International Female Ride Day© spans just one day, Chin made the decision to extend the fundraiser throughout the entire month of May to help raise more for She’z MotoCamp via sales made from around the world through the MotoChic® website.

Chin concluded, “I believe International Female Ride Day© has done a tremendous job supporting female motorcyclists. I couldn’t think of a better way to honor and participate in the holiday than by investing in training for women who are interested in learning to ride or improving their skills.”
