Ecobee has announced a new smart thermostat called the Ecobee4. It differentiates itself from the competition with the inclusion of Amazon Alexa, and not just a cut-down version meant for thermostats.
The Ecobee4 pretty much acts as an Echo, as it can do anything an Echo can. This can bring both a smart thermostat and an Echo into the someone’s house at once, making it a tempting purchase. However, you do have to consider the location of your thermostat and if it’s ideal as the only source of Alexa in your house.
Ecobee’s new thermostat also comes with a wireless room temperature sensor so the thermostat can monitor the temperature of more of your house rather just than one point. And of course, it features the same basic smart features of any thermostat.
This is a big deal for both Ecobee and Amazon. It’ll help Ecobee push into the market where Nest is the smart thermostat, and it’ll bring Amazon into more people’s homes. Will you be picking one up? Leave a comment!
