Do not eat peanut butter cups!



If you are a fan of peanut butter cups, then you have probably eaten Reese’s peanut butter cups. Unfortunately, the ingredients aren’t good for our health.

Background

Mr. Reese invented them in 1928. He was a shipping foreman and a farmer but he started his candy company in the basement.

There are different shapes and sizes of Reese’s peanut butter cups. The chocolate and the peanuts aren’t a cause for concern but the other ingredients are.

Ingredients

Chocolate, milk, cocoa butter, milk fat, no fat milk, soy lecithin, PGPR, lactose, peanuts, salt, citric acid, TBGQ and sugar dextrose.

The ingredients that are questionable are:

  • Soy Lecithin

Soy lecithin is connected to breast cancer, cerebral abnormalities and it also has a negative effect on reproduction and fertility.

  • PGPR

Instead of cocoa butter, the manufacturer uses PGPR (polyglycerol polyricinoleate. It is made of castor beans and it causes allergic reactions and gastrointestinal problems.

  • TBHQ

The tertiary butyl hydroquinone can damage the lungs it can cause stomach cancer. The side effects of it are vomiting, ringing in the ears, nausea, and collapse. It can be really toxic.

How to prepare your own peanut butter cups?

Ingredients

  • Organic salt (1/4 tsp.)
  • Raw honey (1/4 cup)
  • Organic peanut butter (1 cup)
  • Organic dark chocolate (12 ounces)
  • Muffin tin liners (12)

Preparation

  • Trim the muffin cup and make them more shallow.
  • On low temperature melt the chocolate as you do that stir continuously.
  • With a teaspoon pour chocolate into the muffin cups.
  • Put them into the fridge.
  • In a bowl mix the honey and the peanut butter.
  • After the chocolate is hardened heat the peanut butter on a low heat.
  • After it has softened pour into each muffin cup but leave some room for more chocolate at the top.
  • Keep them for 10 min. in the fridge and after that flatten and spread the peanut butter.
  • Now keep them in the fridge for one hour.
  • Then rewarm the rest of the chocolate and pour on top of each muffin cup.
  • Put them again in the fringe
  • Enjoy
