Google Assistant will soon make its way to Android TV, also coming to Android Wear 2.0

After appearing on the Google Pixel and Google Home, the Google Assistant will soon spread to even more devices.

Google Assistant is coming to Android TV. Google confirmed the news today alongside NVIDIA’s announcement of the new SHIELD TV, which will support Google Assistant. Google says that all Android TVs in the US running Android 6.0 or Android 7.0 will get Assistant, including the AirTV Player, Xiaomi Mi Box, Sharp Aquos, and Sony Bravia.

With Google Assistant, you’ll be able to control accessories by saying things like “Dim the lights,” and you can then search for content within apps and play content by saying something like “Play Stranger Things on Netflix.” You can also ask questions and get help with things in your life by asking Google Assistant something like “How long will it take to get to work?”

Android TV boxes aren’t the only new devices that’ll be getting Google Assistant this year. Google says that Assistant is coming to Android Wear 2.0 smartwatches as well as Android-powered in-car infotainment systems and other devices with the Embedded Google Assistant SDK.
