AT&T has decided to follow in the footsteps of Verizon Wireless by hiking up the fees tied to getting a new device on its network.
The big blue carrier has confirmed to FierceWireless that it is hiking its activation and upgrade fees by $5. That means subscribers will now pay $25 to either activate a new line or upgrade their device. An AT&T spokesperson said that the change is due to the company “making minor adjustments” to its fees, but didn’t explain beyond that.
The new upgrade and activation fees go into effect beginning Friday, January 20.
